Nothing really to share here at the moment, just got tired of the extremely old entry that was just holding the old skin since I am no longer a core member.  It's HOT - no AC at the moment and the 4 oscillating fans only do so much.  I don't sleep well when I am this hot, so here I am.

My Thoughts in Print...

Almost a decade ago I wrote poetry prolifically.  I don't know if my muse went on vacation or I got a major case of writer's block or if that little part of me ceased to exist or I just got too busy...maybe it's a a little of all of the above.  Over the past few years I have selected a number of poems and pieces of visual creativity and put them together into a book.  It is no prize winning tome or major achievement it is simply what it is, Pieces of me.

Movie buffs and film critique lovers please join in...

Watched LIMITLESS recently... While I found the basis for the storyline interesting I really felt the film fell short.  I think what I liked the most was the use of ...I'll call it tunneling...with the visual effects.  It was a nice touch but I felt let down with the ending.  I found it to be very anti climactic.   For me this was a film that had potential and it just didn't get there. Thoughts?

Talk with me...

There is a nifty little application for journals here at DA called Forums.  Perhaps my lack of stimulating conversation in my day to day life has brought me to see the journal forum for the wonderful resource it is.  What a great tool to create discussions on things that interest you.  I'll admit that I don't often take the time to even see if another deviant is making use of this tool, much less read it's content, but change is good.  I'm not asking for much, just tell me Who's Coming to Dinner? and share your favorite film.  If you are really industrious, use the link to start your own thread in my journal forums.  I promise a response to any thread started in my journal forums, all I ask is that the question posed be one that is open enough that a wide range of responses can be generated.  What's on your mind?

Searching for Motivation

Though my time to pursue creative endeavors is greatly limited at the moment, I am still looking for something to kick start my drive.  Thanks to you who made suggestions in my last request, (Janet I am looking at you here :) ) they are now floating around in the queue and I hope to have something to nurture the seed so I can spit something out soon.  In the meantime I want to dive into my photography more so give me subjects, themes, inspiration!  I am working on organizing my space with the thought that with organization will come more creativity once the clutter has been cleared away.  It's a process.

My books can be found by following the Blurb links above.

My plush creations can be followed here Doodle Stitches

Really hoping the organization of clutter will get these rolling again.

Amazing how you can offer free shoots and have only one person take you up on it...is everyone afraid of being in front of the lens...

Not much of a new journal entry, but it's all I have at the moment.  Happy Holidays to all of you!

END UPDATE

Life as a single parent...

While I always respected single parents before, having been a child raised by one, being one myself now has given me a whole new perspective and I hope I can find a quarter of the strength of those who have walked this path before me.

While I realize I am still reeling from the suddenness of it all and the way in which it all came about, I wonder if there will ever be a moment I don't feel tired, frustrated, scattered, and alone.  It's like in a dream when you are trying to run, but it's like your feet are stuck in quick sand.  I feel like I am working so hard to achieve calm and relaxation that will ever elude me.

So, I have decide to just ignore the fact I feel like I could sleep for a year and cry for days and focus on diving into creative projects.

:bulletred::bulletred::bulletred::bulletred::bulletred::bulletred:
Give me a swift kick in the pants!

It is time to really get back into my writing again.  If you have the time skim through my writing folder in my gallery and share your thoughts on some of my writing.  Most of it is poetry though there is a short story in there.  Give me a challenge - chose a topic and ask me to write a poem or a short story, anything...just give me a shove in the direction of picking up my pen again, as it were.

I'm looking for models for my photography.  I want to shoot people again and I am ITCHING to shoot.   So if you live in Virginia and feel like stepping in front of a camera for a few hours let me know.

Help me get my creative projects going full steam ahead!!

I've been working on a book of my poetry and other art (as illustration) for awhile, keep putting it down...perhaps I will finish it...

My plush creations can be followed here Doodle Stitches

These have been on hold, just haven't been in the mood or had the energy when I have the time...hand stitching and threading needles is quite the challenge when you are exhausted.

Just getting this set up, can't wait to have results from shoots to share!

Turned Upside Down

My personal life is a bit of a mess at the moment.  That's all I am going to say about that, but there are big changes and challenges that I am dealing with.  All will end up alright eventually, but if my journal doesn't change regularly this is why.

Spring

Everything is green, birds are about and flowers are blooming.  The only thing that Mother Nature cannot decide on here in my corner of the world is what temperature she would like it to be, we keep yo-yoing from cold to hot with occasional nice mild spring temps.  Global warming anyone...

All a Buzz

A few years ago I took part in a fun chain art project (and I shamefully am still working on a number of them) where you post a comment in facebook that the first five who respond shall receive something created by you.  I had been waiting until I had completed them all, but that has not happened so I am going to go ahead and share the one I have completed.   Made for Mollinda a book of photography and poetry about bees, all content by moi. All a Buzz is available through Blurb.com.  If interested, just follow the link : All A Buzz

Doodle Stitches

Last fall I began creating plushies from my son's artwork.  It started with Silly Bunny
Silly Bunny by Twilights-Maiden and it has gone on from there.
I have a page on FaceBook  DoodleStitches, check it out!  While I am not currently taking orders for any of the creations I make from my son's drawings or of my own design(see Turned Upside Down above), I am open to be approached about creating a plush from drawings by someone else or their child.   Once things calm down, I will begin taking orders on everything again.

Autumn

I love Autumn.  The air gets crisp, leaves change color and it's time for pulling out sweaters and drinking hot cider and cocoa.  Nature's color palette this time of year is amazing, so many rich reds, oranges, browns and yellows with only hints of green.  October is my favorite month, and my favorite holiday has always been Halloween, even long before I started celebrating Samhain.  This journal celebrates my favorite season, favorite month and favorite holiday.

October Traditions

I have loved scary movies all my life and love to watch them in October especially in anticipation of Halloween.  There are a handful that I must watch every year, and I thought I would share some art I have found around DA that pay homage to my must watch traditions.

Psycho (such a timeless classic and I adore Hitchcock)

Hitchcock's Psycho by infernovball  :thumb175670061:   Norman Bates Psycho by Zosomoto

Hocus Pocus (Because it's fun)

:thumb116894616:

Sleepy Hollow (Burton and Depp need I say more) and Disney's Legend of Sleepy Hollow (grew up with it, it's like my Halloween movie mac and cheese)

:thumb30465335:  :thumb20499611:   Ichabod by Mad-Margaret   +Ichabod - Portrait+ by TownOfWolves

Night of the Living Dead (They're coming to get you Mahgret...)

:thumb119743850:   zombies by AkureiTsume  :thumb57849032:   Beauty Never Dies Print by SpikeJones67

and Halloween - the original one

:thumb66802652:   michael myers by Xolt   Michael Myers by Justin-Mabry

There are more of course, like House on Haunted Hill and if I am feeling up to it The Exorcist (this one always, always creeps me out and I cannot watch it alone)

Other traditions include listening to my Halloween music cds one is a mix of songs like Werewolves of London and Monster Mash etc. and another is a compilation of horror movie theme songs - that one goes on repeat quite a bit; Carving our pumpkins and up until 2004 I always threw a huge Halloween costume party.  Now that we have a house I am hoping to start that one up again, but it wont be this year.

Share some awesome Halloween or horror film inspired art and I'll feature it here in my journal for the remainder of the month.
